Government urged to regularize traditional medicine

Dr. Richard Fru of the Garden of Eden has called on the government of Cameroon to regularize the traditional medicine system which according to him will go a long way to give the practice the respect and order it rightfully deserves.

He made the call last week at his Wonya Mavio, Mile 18 Garden of Eden conference hall during a press briefing as one of the activities organized to commemorate the fifteen edition of the African traditional medicine day.

Speaking to the over twenty journalist of the audiovisual and print media, Dr. Richard Fru lamented over the fact that even though traditional medicine has proven beyond reasonable doubts to be effective, the government has continued to relegate it to the back yard.

The CEO of the Garden of Eden in a chat with the press expressed dismay over the fact that even though traditional medicine is as old as human origin, it’s at the brink of extinction in Cameroon due to government’s continual crackdown and bottlenecks.

To him, the government needs to integrate traditional medicine into the modern society blending it with the present health system, ensure regular and continual support and even pass a law to regularize and govern the practice.

Dr. Fru Richard noted that if a board is created to scan practitioners and issue licenses to all who venture into the practice, in the years to come, traditional medicine in Cameroon which according to the World Health Organization, WHO, provides health support for over 80% of those living in the African continent, will conquer the world.

Pilling questions from the press, His Healer expressed optimism that with sufficient funding, and promotion by the government and Cameroonians, Cameroon traditional medicine will take its right place in the world.
