The Regional Delegation of Public Health, RDPH,
accredited four government health centers across the region with the support of
Performance Based Financing, PBF-Accreditation for Quality on February 22, 2018
at the Delegation of Public Health.
Chaired by the Regional Delegate of Public Health, Dr.
Victor Mbome Njie, the event was attended by Chiefs of Centers (COC), District
Medical Officers, Health Medical Officers, Health Area Chairpersons, contract
development verification agency, PBF Task Force and the Regional Delegation of
Public Health staff.
Four districts were recognized; Buea Road Integrated
Health Center-Buea, Kosala Integrated Health Center-Kumba, Batoke Integrated
Health Center-Limbe, and New Life Cottage Integrated Health Center-Mamfe, which
were being monitored since 2016.
After receiving the official approval from the RDPH,
the chiefs of centers expressed their gratitude towards the RDPH and PBF
programme for the certification. Mokwe Marie, Chief of center for PMI Buea Road
said “We are happy to receive this accreditation and we thank the RDPH for the
PBF Accreditation programme. Even though I have now been transferred to PMI
Buea Town, I will continue to put in the same effort.”
According to the chief of center for PMI Batoke, Mme
Elizabeth Monono, it all depends on maintaining the quality that led to the
accreditation they received. Mme Kome Mary spoke on behalf of the Kosala
integrated health center “Since it was opened three years ago, it has been
functioning thanks to the PBF and Public health.
With team work and dedication,
we were able to receive an accreditation.” Meanwhile Mme Ewoh Florence on
behalf of the New life integrated health center, Mamfe, was delighted that
their efforts as a team have been acknowledged through an Accreditation for
Quality.
The regional delegate of public health announced that
there shall be an extension of facilities to be accredited in order to increase
the quality of services. To begin with, five other health centers have been
added to the just accredited centers.
