Hundreds grace “let them laugh” comedy show

Buea almost came to a standstill last Saturday September 15, as little over five hundred denizens of the town and its environs stormed the mile 17 CNPS hall not for a political conclave but to be a part of the “let them laugh” comedy show organised by a one-man-lion, Calvino Wallang, popularly known as “MC Calvino.”



The social gathering which brought together comedians from the national triangle and beyond was spiced by a red carpet ceremony that gave the event the special touch, parallel to none in the region.

With veteran comedians like Spaco and young stars such as Mba Yacob, last Saturdays ceremony, attendees attest, will go down memory lane as the first ever comedy show to assemble hundreds in the town of legendary hospitality, and the entire region as a whole.

Welcoming, attendees at the comedy “therapy” show the main organiser, MC Calvino took out time to express his profound gratitude to all media partners and stakeholders who worked relentlessly to ensure that the event recorded a 100% success rate.

Speaking, Grace Ngoh, South West regional delegate of Arts and Culture, applauded Calvino’s “scenes of creativity” which according to her will open the world and all its benefits to him. To her, it was the first time she as witnessing such marmot crowd at a comedy show in Cameroon, a practice neighbouring Nigeria is reputed for.

Grace Ngoh who described Calvino Wallang as the future of Cameroonian comedy, urged him not to let the ups and downs of life discourage him but to push forward and restrategize every time he hits a stonewall.

Equally present among some top guest at the comedy show was the directors of Buea-
based CMTV and HITV, entrepreneurs, civil society leaders, telecommunication and brewery giants, a college of reporters, Calvino’s lecturers at the department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the University of Buea, and a hall full of fans.
