Over 100M FCFA budgeted for 5th edition of Limbe FESTAC


A whopping sum of cira 100 Million FCFA has been set aside by the steering committee charged with the organisation of the Limbe festival of arts and culture, FESTAC so as to enable a hitch-free organisation of the cultural jamboree said to be in its 5th edition.

The amount was made public yesterday by the government delegate to the Limbe City Council, Andrew Motanga Monjimba during a press briefing organised in prelude to the cultural festival scheduled to run from April 7 – 14.

The cultural bonanza to take place at the seaside resort city of Limbe and expected to group Cameroonians from all four corners of the country will be spiced by activities such as canoe race, traditional wrestling, tug of war, carnival, artistic presentations and gastronomy among others.

Briefing pressmen on the upcoming festival described by some as a melting pot of culture, the chairperson of the steering committee who is equally the government delegate to the Limbe city Council, Andrew Motanga Monjimba noted with some degree of fulfilment that last year’s edition was a major success.

While applauding the contributions of all the stakeholders who gave last year’s event a special touch especially at a time when the Anglophone crisis was bobbling, Motanga called on all and sundry to put hands on deck and ensure a 100% successful FESTAC 2018.

“Today we are barely 26 day away from the official opening of the fifth edition of the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture, which as you already know, has a special touch this year as we shall be commemorating the 160th anniversary of the founding of Victoria now Limbe.”

He said, adding that “for eight days running, Limbe shall once more be a major destination for all lovers of arts and cultures and also or many whose limbe as a tourist’s haven. After four successful edtions of the limbe FESTAC, today we can proudly say that Limbe FESTAC is an institution and a strong legacy which has come to stay.”
