GICAM announce strategies which can enable Cameroon emerge even before 2035

The management of Douala-based group company, GICAM has made public a number of measures which they say can facilitate Cameroon's emergence even before 2035.
According to Celestin Tawamba, the groups management, if additional support and encouragement is given to Small and Medium Size enterprises, Cameroon will be putting in place a smooth road to sail through to its emergence. 
GICAM president poised to accelerate SMEs growth

“As it is now registered by all, the year 2017 has been a year of underperformance for our economy. Our growth has been at half-mast, rising by almost 6% in 2015 to 4.6% in 2016 and finally to less than 4% in 2017. Clearly, the resilience of our economy has been put to the test by the security crisis and drastic fall in oil prices, our main export product.” He said during an enlarged press conference that grouped pressmen of the broadcast and print media.

Despite the numerous setbacks which plagued the last fiscal year, GICAM’s president highlighted the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, IMF and the head state’s supports as some measures which helped the economy to be resilience and maintain its position as the leader in the CEMAC block.

Explaining that just within six months after taking office, the current team had engaged in a number of activities all geared at protecting Small and Medium Size Enterprises, SMEs and supporting them to grow, Celestin Tawamba promised the unflinching support of his team to SMEs in the country.
“The results of the first six months was dense in activities our Executive Council team was received in audience by the Prime Minister, and several members of the Government, including the Ministers in charge of Finance, Economy, Labor, SMEs, Industry, Trade. It was not only the opportunity to make contact, but also and especially to remember, in the respective areas of these interlocutors, the problems facing businesses.”

Pilling questions from pressmen, the president recalled that just within six months, their team had organized four major gathering which all had as agenda to protects and reinforce the capacity of SMEs.
“In our vision of Rebuilding, Reunification and Reconciliation, we intend to take advantage of Conventions already signed with prestigious partners to promote a GICAM Label and to give its members privileged access and support facilities in areas such as training, development projects, and dispute resolution.” He said.

Adding that in the weeks to come, the group will publish a document titled “white book” on the Cameroonian economy. This publication, he told pressmen will not just seeks to pinpoint areas in the economy which need specific attention, but will equally suggest measures which if implemented will boast the economic situation of the country.


“The third part of our action will be the construction of a Gicam of intelligence economic; that is to say, GICAM for the defense and promotion of its interests and its actions. In 2018, the priority projects will focus on the promotion of the sectors of excellence and national champions, strengthening the protection of the local industry and the fight against the illicit trade and finally the promotion of good governance and ethics in business.” He added
