To Mayor Ekema, with the recent institution of decentralisation, municipal authorities have a major rule to play as regard the socio-economic development of their area and they can only be effective after taking part in such training symposiums from more advanced nations.

They include; the construction of a well-equipped and ultra-modern market, a cable cab to ferry tourist to the majestic Mount Fako, the supply of medical assistance to hospitals, electrification of rural communities, and some basic yet scares societal amenities to the population of Buea.
Responding to his demands, the leader of the US delegation to the Buea council who is the acting ambassador, Matthew Smith, first took out time to congratulate the population of Buea and under the stewardship of Buea council for the rapid development of the town which is parallel to none. To him he has visited Buea two times and coming for the third time in 2017, the developmental changes was prove on the towns readiness to develop.

Mattew Smith while recalling the good bi-lateral relationship enjoyed between the United States of America and Cameroon, made known his intensions and that of his nation to assist Cameroon in every way they can. To him, they are always ready to assist and will never stop to do so.
Here him “all you need to do is tell us if there is something we can do to help and we will gladly do so…we are working closely with the government of Cameroon in many domains and will continue to do so.”

Matthew Smith equally noted that all the demands of the population of Buea put forth by their Mayor had been taken in to consideration and will he processes within the shortest possible time.
